Handling Data Exclusions: Break Rooms & Abandoned Beacons

Learn how to use data exclusion features to prevent non-work-related activity from skewing your analytics.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

To ensure your analytics are accurate and reflect true cleaning performance, Mero includes features to automatically exclude data from non-work activities, such as cleaners taking breaks or beacons being left behind accidentally.

1. How to Designate a Break Room

If cleaners spend their break time in a specific location (e.g., a lunchroom or lounge), you can mark that area as a "Break Room." This tells the system to treat long stays in that location differently.

  • How it works: If a cleaner's beacon is detected in a designated break room for more than a continuous two-hour period, the system will automatically mark the event as a "Break Room Visit" and exclude it from performance analytics.

  • How to configure it:

    1. Navigate to Settings in the bottom-left menu.

    2. Select the Buildings tab.

    3. On the building you wish to edit, click the three vertical dots and then select the edit pencil.

    4. Navigate through the floors to find the specific location you want to designate.

    5. In the location's settings, check the “Breakroom” box to mark the area as a break room.

    6. Click Save to apply the changes.

2. How to Handle Likely Abandoned Beacons

This feature prevents a stationary beacon (e.g., one left on a cart or in a locker) from generating inaccurate data.

  • How it works: If a cleaner's beacon (fob) remains in the same location for more than two hours, the system will flag it as a "Likely Abandoned Beacon." All data from that beacon will be excluded from analytics until it starts moving again.

  • How to configure it: This setting is managed on a building-wide level.

    1. Navigate to Settings in the bottom-left menu.

    2. Select the Buildings tab.

    3. On the building you wish to edit, click the three vertical dots and then select the edit pencil.

    4. In the building's settings, you can check the box to Exclude likely abandoned beacon data.

    5. Click Save to apply the changes.

By using these two features, you can maintain the integrity of your data and ensure your reports accurately reflect productive cleaning activity.
