1. Pre-Installation Considerations
Before installing, it's important to plan the placement of your basestations to ensure optimal coverage and performance.
Range: Basestations have a communication range of up to 10 meters, with the highest accuracy within 3 meters.
Optimal Placement: A basestation should be installed in each individual area you wish to monitor (e.g., in each washroom, office, or hallway section). During a professional installation, the Mero team will assist in identifying the best locations.
Power: You will need one available standard 120V outlet for each basestation.
Documentation: Take note of the unique Basestation ID on each device (found by the device's QR code) and its corresponding location. This is crucial for the configuration step.
2. Physical Installation Steps
Identify an Outlet: Choose a suitable outlet in the designated area.
Plug in the Basestation: Simply plug the basestation directly into the wall outlet. It will power on automatically.
Mounting (Optional): For a more permanent installation, you can peel the backing off the double-sided tape and press the device firmly onto a clean, flat surface.
3. Adding & Configuring in the Control Center
Once the basestation is plugged in, you must add it to the platform so the system knows where it is.
Navigate to Settings in the bottom-left menu.
Select the Devices tab.
Click the orange “Add Device” button on the right side.
Fill in the configuration details in the pop-up menu:
Campus, Building, Floor: Select the precise physical location of the device.
Sensor Type: Select Basestation from the dropdown menu.
Sensor ID: Enter the unique identifier found on the basestation.
Nickname: Choose a descriptive name that reflects its location (e.g., "West Lobby" or "Floor 3 - Women's Washroom").
Model: Specify the model. If you don't know it, enter "N/A".
Location: You can add multiple location tags to define the coverage area.
RSSI/Calibration: These settings are for advanced tuning and should only be adjusted by a Mero technician.
Photo: It is highly recommended to upload a picture of the installed basestation. This helps immensely for future reference and troubleshooting.
Click the “Save” button at the bottom to save your configuration.
Your basestation is now fully installed, configured, and ready to detect beacons.
