Managing Your Personal Notifications

Accessing Your Notification Settings

To manage your own notifications, start by clicking on your user icon located in the bottom left corner of the screen. From there, select Account Settings to access your personal configuration options.

In the Account Settings area, you'll find your profile information where you can add a phone number or upload a profile photo. Navigate to the Notifications tab to begin customizing your notification preferences.

Setting Up Notification Methods

Before you can receive any notifications, you'll need to select at least one notification method. Mero Control Center supports three delivery methods:

  • Push notifications - Delivered directly to your device

  • Email notifications - Sent to your registered email address

  • SMS notifications - Text messages sent to your phone

Simply toggle on your preferred notification method(s).

SMS Notification Consent

Before you can enable SMS notifications, you must first agree to our messaging terms. Look for the consent checkbox that reads:

"I agree to receive SMS notifications from Mero. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for support. View our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy."

Once you check this box:

  • The phone number field becomes editable

  • You can enter your phone number and enable SMS notifications

  • You can reply STOP to any message to opt out at any time

  • Reply HELP to receive support information

Important: If you haven't agreed to the SMS terms, the phone number field will be grayed out and you won't be able to enable SMS notifications.

Customizing Notification Types

Once you've selected a notification method, you can fine-tune which types of alerts you receive by exploring the Notification Type section. This area allows you to enable or disable specific categories of notifications, such as:

  • Consumable Alerts - Triggered when a dispenser needs a refill

  • Offline Devices - Alerts when a base station or consumable device goes offline. Note that alerts will not trigger for offline devices unless the device is offline for more than 24 hours. This is to prevent false positives.

  • Inactive Cleaners - Notifications when a cleaner's beacon goes offline during their shift

  • High Traffic - Triggered when more than 200 visitors have been detected since the last cleaning

  • Extended Cleaning Time - Alerts when a cleaner spends more than double the expected cleaning time as per their scope of work

  • Shortened Cleaning Time - Triggered when a cleaner spends less than 50% of the expected cleaning time as per their scope of work

  • Unscheduled Visit - Alerts when a cleaner is detected in a location where they are not scheduled to be

  • Missed Shift - Triggered when a cleaner was supposed to be at a location but did not show up

  • Overtime Worked - Alerts when a cleaner works or is detected two hours past their scheduled shift time or more

  • Work Order Assignments - Notifications for assigned work orders

Location-Specific Notifications

For organizations with multiple buildings or locations, you can customize notifications by specific areas. When you expand any notification type (like Consumable Alerts), you'll see options to select particular buildings, floors, or locations. This granular control ensures you only receive notifications relevant to your areas of responsibility.

Adding Your Phone Number

To enable SMS notifications, you must first add your phone number to your profile:

  1. Go to Account Settings

  2. Select the Profile tab

  3. First, check the SMS consent checkbox to agree to receive SMS notifications

  4. Enter your phone number in the designated field (now editable)

  5. Click Save Changes

Once saved, return to the Notifications tab where SMS will now appear as an available notification method.

Managing User Notifications (Administrators)

Accessing Another User's Notification Settings

Organization and building administrators can configure notification settings for other users:

  1. Navigate to Settings in the bottom-left menu.

  2. Select the Users tab.

  3. Find the user you wish to configure and click on their row to open their profile.

  4. Navigate to the Notifications section within their profile.

From here, you can enable notification methods and configure notification types on behalf of the user. This is particularly useful for setting up notifications for new team members or ensuring critical alerts reach the right people.

Note for Administrators: When enabling SMS for other users, the user will still need to agree to the SMS consent terms themselves before they can receive text messages. You can set up their notification preferences, but SMS will only activate once they've consented.

This feature is particularly useful for ensuring managers receive critical alerts or setting up new team members with appropriate notification preferences.

Important Notes About Work Orders

Work order notifications are automatically enabled for all users and cannot be disabled. This ensures that when work orders are assigned to specific team members, they will always receive notification of their assignments. This feature only applies to organizations where work orders are enabled.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Notification Type section appears grayed out: This indicates you need to select at least one notification method (Push, Email, or SMS) before you can customize specific notification types.

  • SMS option not available: You must add a phone number to your profile before SMS notifications become available as an option. See more here

  • Not receiving notifications: Verify that you've saved your settings by clicking the Save button at the bottom of the Notifications tab after making changes.

Best Practices

  • Start with essential notifications and gradually add more as needed

  • Use location-specific filtering to reduce notification noise

  • Regularly review and update your notification preferences

  • Consider using different notification methods for different types of alerts (e.g., SMS for urgent issues, email for routine updates)
